Indian Idol 3 winner and singer Prashant Tamang has passed away at the age of 43. Filmmaker Rajesh Ghatani confirmed Tamang's death, while singer Mahesh Sewa said he suffered cardiac arrest. He was living in Delhi at the time of his death. Tamang, who also acted in Paatal Lok 2, had sung numerous Nepali songs.

India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of ODI series against New Zealand due to a side strain. Pant felt sudden onset discomfort in his right lateral abdominal area while batting in the nets during training on Saturday, after which he was taken for scans and subsequently diagnosed with a side strain. Dhruv Jurel has been named his replacement.

The US military on Saturday said that it carried out multiple strikes in Syria targeting the Islamic State terrorist group. The strikes were part of an operation launched last month after Islamic State terrorists killed US military personnel in Syria. The US Central Command did not reveal if anyone was killed in the strikes.

A nine-seater plane crashed around nine kilometres from Rourkela airstrip in Odisha on Saturday after a technical fault. The plane was reportedly flying from Bhubaneswar to Rourkela and was operated by IndiaOne Air. According to preliminary reports, a total of seven people, who were on board, have suffered injuries in the crash.

The Congress-led Karnataka government has called on the BJP-led Union Government to ensure revenue protection for states after GST rationalisation and to release pending Central dues under flagship schemes in the upcoming Union Budget 2026-27. It also sought a 50:50 sharing of excise duty on tobacco products and cess on pan masala. Karnataka raised the demands during the pre-Budget consultations.
