Former India captain Virat Kohli on Sunday broke the world record for smashing most hundreds in a single format in international cricket. Kohli slammed a 102-ball hundred in the first ODI against South Africa to record his 52nd ODI hundred. The previous record for most hundreds in a single format was held by Sachin Tendulkar (51 tons in Test cricket).

Former Team India captain Rohit Sharma on Sunday created history by smashing most sixes in ODI cricket history. With his third six in the first ODI against South Africa in Ranchi, Rohit took his tally of sixes in ODIs to 352. Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi held the previous record with 351 sixes.

South Africa stand-in captain Aiden Markram won the toss and elected to bowl first against India in the first ODI in Ranchi. India have now lost 19 tosses in a row in ODI cricket. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma will open the batting for KL Rahul-led India. India's playing XI also includes Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja and Harshit Rana.

All-rounder Andre Russell has announced his retirement from IPL at the age of 37. He was a part of Delhi Capitals (formerly known as Delhi Daredevils) in IPL 2012 and 2013, and he played for KKR from IPL 2014 to 2025. He scored 2,651 runs and took 123 wickets in 140 IPL matches. He has been appointed KKR's Power Coach.

Punjab captain Abhishek Sharma slammed 16 sixes and scored 148(52) against Bengal in their SMAT match on Sunday. Abhishek reached his fifty off 12 balls and hundred off 32 balls. It's the joint-third-fastest fifty and joint-second-fastest by an Indian in men's T20 cricket. Abhishek also set the record for smashing most sixes in a calendar year (91 in 2025).

Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing has filed a new FIR against Congress' Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, along with six others, in the National Herald Case. They've been charged with criminal conspiracy to fraudulently acquire Associated Journals Ltd, parent company of now-defunct National Herald newspaper. The acquisition was made through Young Indian in which Gandhis held 76% stake.

Finland's Ministry for Foreign Affairs has announced that it has started preparations to close its embassies in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Myanmar in 2026. "The embassies will be closed for operational and strategic reasons, which are linked to changes in the countries' political situation and their limited commercial and economic relations with Finland," the country said in its statement.

The first-ever international hundred was scored by Australia's Charles Bannerman in 1877. Kohli brought up his 83rd international ton in the first ODI against South Africa in Ranchi.

The Indian Air Force is conducting a relief and rescue operation in Cyclone Ditwah-battered Sri Lanka. During one of its operations, it rescued a Pakistani national along with the citizens of Poland, Belarus, Iran, Australia and Bangladesh. Four infants were also among those rescued. Sri Lanka has declared a state of public emergency in the country.

Billionaire Nikhil Kamath revealed on his podcast that he was once a shareholder of Twitter before world's richest man Elon Musk bought it and renamed it to X. Calling himself a "very small shareholder", Kamath said, "I got paid when you bought Twitter." Musk responded, saying it was important to buy Twitter as it was having negative influence on world.
